Going the Distance
Known primarily for its amazing hand-crafted beer, BJ’s actually originally started as a pizza place way back in 1978. In 1991, the founders, Bill Cunningham and Mike Phillips, then sold the pizza venture to their accountants, Jerry Hennessy and Paul Motenko.
Since then, the purchased brand expanded. With its original located found in Santa Ana, California, several restaurants then followed suit, occupying key spots in Los Angeles and San Diego. By 1996, the brand purchased 26 of Pietro’s Pizza restaurants, further expanding its reach to more customers.
It is also on that year that the company started experimenting in creating their own beer. And what a success its microbrewery experiment was!
Since then, more than a hundred BJ’s restaurants are now located in several states in the country. Considering its fast growth, you are pretty sure you’re getting the good stuff at this place!
